Mayor Jeannie: No Malabon household left behind in food aid program

Malabon City Mayor Jeannie Sandoval said the city government will continue working with the national government to ensure that no Malabueño household is left behind in its food assistance programs.
Sandoval made the statement as she and First Lady Louise “Liza” Araneta‑Marcos led the distribution of rice aid to around 3,000 residents on Monday, July 13.
Each beneficiary received 10 kilograms of rice under the Hapag Sigurado: Rice Distribution para sa Malabueño program.
The latest batch of recipients included persons with disabilities and members of other vulnerable sectors.
“Malaking bagay ang patuloy na suporta ng pambansang pamahalaan sa ating mga programa para sa mga Malabueño. Sa pamamagitan ng ating pagtutulungan, mas napapalawak natin ang naaabot na tulong at mas natitiyak nating walang tahanang maiiwan sa ating mga inisyatiba para sa food security, mas maayos na kabuhayan, at pag-unlad (The national government’s continued support for our programs for Malabueños is a great help. Through our cooperation, we can reach more residents and ensure that no household is left behind in our initiatives for food security, better livelihoods, and development),” Sandoval said.
She said the partnership between the national and local governments allows the city to expand the reach of its food security, livelihood, and development programs.
The distribution is part of the national government’s Bawat Bayan Makikinabang Program, implemented through the Local Government Support Fund in coordination with the Malabon City government, the City Council, and various national government agencies.
Since the program was launched in Malabon on May 6, the city government has distributed 15,799 rice packs, equivalent to 76.59 percent of its target of 20,629 beneficiaries under the first tranche.
Previous recipients included ambulant vendors, fisherfolk, barangay tanods, pedicab drivers and operators, solo parents, existing Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4P’s) beneficiaries, fire volunteers, barangay health workers, scavengers, persons with disabilities, and members of other vulnerable sectors.
The city government said rice distribution will continue until all identified beneficiaries under the first tranche receive assistance.
City Administrator Dr. Alexander Rosete said the city government aims to ensure that food assistance reaches Malabueños who need it most.
He added that the local government will continue strengthening its programs to provide adequate support to every Malabueño.
