The Department of Health (DOH) has cited Parañaque City for its exemplary efforts in combating mosquito-borne viral diseases such as dengue, chikungunya, Zika, and yellow fever.
Parañaque was recognized for its outstanding implementation of the National Aedes-Borne Viral Diseases Prevention and Control Program (NAVDPCP) during the program’s Implementation Review held from July 7 to 10 at the Century Hotel in Pampanga.
Mayor Edwin Olivarez welcomed the recognition, saying it reflects the city’s continuing commitment to protecting residents from mosquito-borne illnesses through strengthened public health services.
He credited the City Health Office, healthcare workers, barangay officials, and community volunteers for their dedication in carrying out intensified disease surveillance, early case detection, prompt treatment, vector control activities, and sustained public information campaigns.
Olivarez added that the recognition serves as an inspiration for the city government to further enhance its prevention and control initiatives in partnership with the DOH and the community.
The NAVDPCP is the DOH’s flagship program aimed at reducing the incidence of Aedes-borne viral diseases through integrated vector management, disease surveillance, early diagnosis, timely treatment, environmental sanitation, and active community participation.
