The Taguig City government has chosen 30 medical students as the first recipients of its Investing in the Value of Education through Stewardship for Taguigeños (INVEST) Scholarship Program for Medicine.
The students will receive full scholarships covering tuition and miscellaneous fees, along with a monthly allowance of P15,000 throughout their studies.
Scholarship assistance can reach up to P590,000 per scholar annually, depending on the medical school.
“In the City of Taguig, we have always believed that investing in education is investing in the city’s foundation. We invest because we believe education transforms lives. We uphold stewardship because every opportunity entrusted by the people comes with a responsibility to serve,” said Mayor Lani Cayetano, who led the awarding of the scholarships.
The INVEST Scholarship Program covers full tuition and miscellaneous fees and provides a monthly living allowance.
After obtaining their medical licenses, scholars are required to render either six months or one year of service to the city government for every year of assistance received, depending on the annual scholarship amount.
The 30 scholars were selected from a pool of 127 applicants.
