Thunderbelles smother Flying Titans for second straight win

The Thunderbelles smothered the Flying Titans' attacks with 17 blocks including three each from AC Miner and Jolina Dela Cruz on their way to their second straight win in as many matches.

ZUS Coffee banked on its rock-solid net defense to sweep Choco Mucho, 25-15, 25-20, 25-23, and grab the early solo lead in the PVL On Tour at the Batangas City Sports Center on Saturday night, July 11.

The Thunderbelles smothered the Flying Titans’ attacks with 17 blocks including three each from AC Miner and Jolina Dela Cruz on their way to their second straight win in as many matches.

ZUS Coffee coach Jerry Yee lauded the efforts of his stalwarts, particularly on boosting their cohesion.

“We’re trying to practice our rotation. Marami kaming bago, mga bagong position, so we’d like to practice and get them some playing time,” said Yee.

“I’d like to say na masaya ako at nagre-respond sila sa mga changes, but siyempre, marami pa rin kaming adjustments na kailangang gawin,” he added.

None from ZUS Coffee scored in double figures with Chinnie Arroyo posting nine points, and Alyanna Ong and Jovelyn Gonzaga chipping in eight points apiece, but their efforts were enough to outplay Choco Mucho.

Caitlyn Viray and Des Cheng had 12 and 10 points, respectively, in a losing effort for the Flying Titans.
