Man killed, son survives Leyte shooting

TACLOBAN CITY – A 40-year-old man was killed and his 17-year-old son was wounded by two motorcycle-riding gunmen in Barangay Balao, Burauen, Leyte on Friday, July 10.
The victims were both residents of Barangay Paghudlan in Burauen.
Initial investigation said that the victims were traveling from Barangay Balao to Barangay Paghudlan after attending Vesper night when they were attacked by the suspects wearing black jackets.
The father died on the spot, while his son, was wounded in the hand and leg and taken to the Burauen District Hospital.
Barangay Balao is about 15 kilometers from the town proper.
Authorities have identified persons of interest and cited personal grudge as possible motive for the attack. Police are pursuing the suspects.
