Angelica Panganiban has opened up about the decision she and husband Gregg Homan made to step away from family vlogging, saying their priority is protecting their daughter, Amila Sabine, from growing up in the spotlight of social media.

Speaking with broadcaster Karen Davila, the actress and celebrity mom revealed that they stopped uploading content to their YouTube channel more than a year ago after realizing their daughter had become old enough to understand and communicate.

"Kung nakikita ng mga tao, we used to have a YouTube channel. Nung buo na siya magsalita, tinanggal na namin," Angelica shared.

According to the actress, she and Gregg wanted to give Amila the chance to grow up with as much privacy as possible instead of having her childhood documented online.

"Ayaw ko na siyang ma-involve sa social media and ayoko na rin kasi na balikan niya ako at some point in her life na bakit ko yun ginawa sa kanya," she explained.

Angelica added that she and her husband are on the same page when it comes to limiting their daughter's online exposure.

"We agreed—parehas kami ng husband ko—na okay kami to do endorsements pero hindi sa social media," she said.

The actress also shared that they support proposals restricting social media access for children aged 16 and below, believing young people should be allowed to develop away from the pressures of online platforms.

Beyond social media, Angelica spoke candidly about the kind of mother she hopes to be for Amila.

"Gusto ko siyang lumaki na ako yung best friend niya—na pag may problema, ako lang lagi yung tatawagan niya. I want her to feel safe with me. Of course, gusto ko siyang magkaroon ng sobrang daming kaibigan dahil ngayon mag-isa pa lang siyang anak ko—hindi natin alam kung ano pa ang mangyayari in the future," she said.

She added that if Amila remains their only child, she wants her daughter to build strong friendships while always knowing she has a safe space at home.

"Kung magiging only daughter ko siya, I want her to have all the friends in the world para hindi niya maramdaman yung pagiging mag-isa niya. Pero bukod doon, gusto ko na ako yung bestest friend niya."

Angelica also revealed that she and Gregg plan to enroll Amila in a coeducational school to help her become comfortable interacting with different kinds of people from an early age.

As for life's inevitable challenges, the actress said she is not afraid of seeing her daughter experience heartbreak, believing those moments are part of growing up.

"Alam mo, hindi ako takot na masaktan siya in life—heartbreak, hindi. Sabi ko nga, gusto ko siyang maging katulad ko—wag tanga ah."

She ended with the advice she hopes Amila will carry with her throughout life:

"Gusto ko siyang magmahal ng katulad ko—yung hindi sumusuko sa love kahit masaktan siya. Love again, try again."
