BACOLOD CITY – An online bomb threat rocked schools and establishments in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental on Saturday, July 11.
The Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) said it was posted in the Facebook public group “6127 Marketplace San Carlos City” by the account “Jim San.”
The San Carlos City Police Station initiated security inspections and paneling in coordination with the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) San Carlos Canine Unit and the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO).
Authorities said no explosives or suspicious items were found in any of these areas.
"While the inspection yielded negative results, we treat every reported threat with utmost seriousness," Police Brig. Gen. Romano Cardiño, PRO-NIR director, said.
Police advised people to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious persons, unattended packages, or unusual activities to them or the 911 emergency hotline.
Cardiño said they are working to identify the person responsible and warned that bomb threats are serious offenses under Philippine law.
"We urge everyone to remain calm, stay alert, and refrain from sharing unverified information that may cause unnecessary fear or panic,” Cardiño said.
