Police secure gov't housing project in QC amid brief commotion

The Southern Diliman Gardens Rental Housing Project under the Expanded Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program in Quezon City was provided police security during mobilization and fencing works on July 8, when officers contained a brief commotion at the site.
According to the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), security assistance was deployed from 6 a.m. to 5:20 p.m. along C.V. Francisco Street corner A. Malantic Street in Barangay UP Campus.
The operations were led by Police Col. Roberto Lingbawan, District Deputy Director for Operations, together with Police Col. Vicente Bumalay Jr., chief of the District Operations Division; Police Lt. Col. Edgar Batoon, commander of the District Mobile Force Battalion; Police Lt. Col. Bryan Lago, deputy commander of the District Mobile Force Battalion; Police Capt. Mark Lawrence Patiag of the District Legal Office; and Police Lt. Col. Virgilio Jopia, station commander of Police Station 9.
Police said the commotion involving several residents of Pook Malantic occurred at around 2:20 p.m.
Personnel responded through dialogue, crowd management, and peaceful intervention, preventing escalation and allowing the activity to conclude without injuries, property damage, or other incidents.
The barricade in the area was peacefully lifted at around 5:20 p.m. after the activity ended.
The QCPD said it will continue to monitor the site and provide security coverage to maintain peace and order, prevent criminal activity, and support the orderly implementation of government programs in coordination with concerned agencies and stakeholders.
