Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto Rubiano placed the city on heightened alert Friday, July 10, as the southwest monsoon (habagat), intensified by Typhoon Inday, continued to threaten Metro Manila.
Rubiano convened the Pasay City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PCDRRMC) to assess preparedness and directed all agencies to position emergency response assets in strategic areas for rapid deployment in case of flooding or other weather-related incidents.
She ordered the City Engineering Office, Pasay City Environment and Natural Resources Office (PCENRO), Traffic and Parking Management Office, Pasay City Police, and the Pasay City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PCDRRMO) to maintain round the clock monitoring.
Emergency equipment—including ambulances, fiber boats, and rubber boats—was placed on standby for possible rescue operations.
The City Engineering Office began declogging drainage systems and securing billboards, while PCENRO pruned trees to reduce hazards. The Traffic Office cleared road obstructions and prepared contingency plans for flood prone areas.
The Pasay City Social Welfare and Development Department (PSWDD) assured sufficient relief supplies for possible evacuations.
Rubiano urged residents to remain vigilant, follow official advisories, and cooperate with authorities throughout the storm.
