A 26-year-old man carrying an improvised pen gun was arrested after alarming residents at a public park in Barangay Batasan Hills, Quezon City, on Wednesday night, July 8.
The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) said the suspect, identified only as alias "L.A.," was reported to authorities at around 10:25 p.m. for openly carrying the improvised firearm while roaming Freedom Park 5 and causing fear among residents.
Responding officers immediately rushed to the park and found the suspect still carrying the weapon.
The suspect allegedly tried to flee after noticing the approaching policemen but was quickly caught and subdued.

A background check showed the suspect had prior cases for violating Republic Act No. 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002), Presidential Decree No. 1602 (illegal gambling), and Republic Act No. 9287 (Illegal Numbers Games Act).
The suspect is facing complaints for Alarms and Scandals and violation of Republic Act No. 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, before the Quezon City Prosecutor's Office.
