Las Piñas City has placed all emergency units on full alert as it steps up disaster readiness for heavy rains intensified by Typhoon Inday.
Mayor April Aguilar said the city government is closely monitoring weather conditions and has directed all concerned offices to remain on heightened alert to ensure the safety and welfare of residents amid the threat of heavy rains, flooding, and strong winds.
As part of its preparedness efforts, the Las Piñas City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (LPCDRRMC) convened a Pre-Disaster Risk Assessment (PDRA) meeting on July 7 to synchronize the response plans of all city departments and ensure immediate action in case the weather situation worsens.
Following the meeting, the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) prepositioned rescue vehicles, emergency equipment, relief supplies, and rescue personnel in strategic areas across the city.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) also activated their emergency response teams to augment the city's disaster operations.
The City Agriculture Office earlier suspended fishing and other maritime activities as a precautionary measure to protect fishermen from hazardous sea conditions.
Meanwhile, the City Engineering Office issued an advisory also on July 7 urging owners and operators of billboards, signages, and similar structures to secure or temporarily dismantle them to prevent accidents caused by strong winds.
The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) has also stockpiled relief goods and placed its evacuation management teams on standby to assist residents who may need to be moved to safety.
To ensure uninterrupted medical assistance, the City Health Office (CHO) prepared medicines, medical supplies, and healthcare personnel while keeping all health centers operational for possible emergency cases.
The City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) has mobilized personnel, vehicles, and equipment for possible debris clearing operations, while the City Veterinary Services
Office readied supplies and response teams to provide assistance for pets and livestock during evacuations.
Aguilar said the city government remains fully prepared to respond to any emergency and urged residents to stay vigilant, monitor official weather advisories, and prioritize the safety of their families as the effects of habagat and Typhoon Inday continue to threaten Metro Manila.
