- Justin Baldoni has spoken publicly for the first time since his legal battle with Blake Lively came to an end, opening up about the emotional toll the controversy took on his family.
Actor and filmmaker Justin Baldoni has finally spoken publicly following the conclusion of his high-profile legal dispute with "It Ends With Us" co-star Blake Lively, describing the past two years as one of the most painful periods his family has ever experienced.
In a nearly five-minute video posted on Instagram, Baldoni appeared alongside his wife, Emily Baldoni, as the couple reflected on the emotional toll the controversy had taken on their family.
"This is the first time we've spoken publicly in a long time," Baldoni said. "It's not because we didn't have anything to say. Believe me, we did."
Emily admitted that the ordeal left deep emotional scars.
"There has been a lot of trauma for us to move through as a family," she shared. "That made it difficult to speak before now."
Their statement comes weeks after Baldoni and Lively reached a settlement that officially ended their legal battle stemming from the production of the 2024 film "It Ends With Us."
The dispute began in December 2024 when Lively sued Baldoni and his production company, Wayfarer Studios, accusing him of sexual harassment on set and alleging that he orchestrated a retaliatory smear campaign after she raised concerns about her working environment.
Baldoni denied the allegations and responded with a $400 million defamation and extortion lawsuit against Lively and her husband, actor Ryan Reynolds.
Before the case could proceed to trial, a U.S. federal judge dismissed most of Lively's claims, ruling that several—including the sexual harassment allegations—could not move forward under the Civil Rights Act because Lively worked on the film as an independent contractor rather than an employee. The court also dismissed Baldoni's counterclaim in its entirety.
The remaining claims, including allegations involving retaliation and breach of contract, were resolved through a settlement reached just days before the scheduled civil trial in New York.
Although neither side disclosed the terms of the agreement, both parties have since addressed the outcome publicly.
Following the settlement, Lively said pursuing legal action had never been her preferred option, but maintained that she filed the case after allegedly experiencing retaliation for seeking a safe workplace.
For the Baldonis, however, the focus has shifted away from the courtroom and toward recovery.
Emily said they felt the timing was finally right to share their side after allowing the legal process to run its course.
"The truth and the facts have spoken for themselves, and here we are," she said.
She also reflected on the questions their family grappled with throughout the controversy, saying they struggled to understand how the situation unfolded.
Despite everything, the couple said they are choosing gratitude over bitterness.
"We're incredibly thankful for the people who stood by us," Emily said.
Justin echoed the sentiment, saying their family is slowly moving forward.
"We feel so loved," he said. "We're healing."
