The body of an unidentified man was found floating in a creek in Sta. Ana, Manila, on Wednesday morning, July 8.
Police said the body was discovered at around 7:56 a.m. in Buhangin Creek along the Pasig River in Barangay 893.
The victim was described as a male, estimated to be between 40 and 50 years old, of medium build, and without an upper garment.
A security guard conducting a routine inspection in the area reportedly spotted the body floating face down near the creek bank, partially surrounded by garbage and debris.
Responding officers from the Manila Police District (MPD) Sta. Ana Police Station (PS-6), along with personnel from the Punta Police Community Precinct, arrived at the scene to recover the body.
Initial investigation suggested the body may have been carried by strong currents after heavy rains earlier in the day, as it had not been seen in the area during the previous shift, according to a witness.
Authorities have requested assistance from the Philippine Coast Guard and a homicide investigator for further examination.
The remains were brought to a funeral facility for proper disposition as police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
