Sen. Robin Padilla enters the PNP General Hospital at Camp Crame in Quezon City on Thursday, July 8, 2026, to visit Sen. Rodante Marcoleta who has been staying at the hospital after his arrest for a case of plunder.
Sen. Robin Padilla visited on Thursday, July 9, Sen. Rodante Marcoleta who has been at the Philippine National Police General Hospital (PNPGH) at Camp Crame in Quezon City since his arrest on Monday.
Padilla’s visit appeared to have been approved by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) which the senator earlier requested to allow him to visit Marcoleta.
CIDG -National Capital Region head Col. John Guiagui explained that all visits should be request for visit should be coursed through them being the designated custodian of the embattled senator.
“There have been requests like Senator Robin Padilla. He (Marcoleta) is under our custody so all those who plan to visit him should inform us because he is under our security watch,” said Guiagui.
The Sandiganbayan earlier designated the PNP-CIDG as the custodian of Marcoleta who cannot be transported to the anti-graft court and be committed to regular jail over his unstable blood pressure.
“The PNP confirms that a Commitment Order was issued by the Sandiganbayan placing the Senator Marcoleta under the custody of the PNP CIDG pending trial and until further orders from the court,” the PNP said in a statement.
Marcoleta is facing plunder case over a P75 million supposed campaign donation which he allegedly did not declare.
Aside from Padilla, Vice President Sara Duterte also visited Marcoleta on July 7, or a day after his arrest.
Guiagui said Marcoleta’s immediate family members and lawyers are his regular visitors.
