Calabarzon police chief Brigadier General Hansel Marantan
Malacañang said the term of Calabarzon police chief Brigadier General Hansel Marantan will not be extended.
The proposed service extension for Marantan was thumbed down by President Marcos, Palace Press Officer and Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro disclosed on Thursday, July 9.
Marantan "may help in other ways" after the term request was rejected, Castro said.
"Wala pong extension para po kay General Marantan. At maaari po siyang makatulong sa ibang pamamaraan (There is no extension for General Marantan. And he may help in other ways)," Castro said in a Palace briefing.
Marantan is set to retire from service on July 10.
Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic Remulla has asked the National Police Commission (Napolcom) to approve a one-year service extension for Marantan.
Remulla sought the extension to ensure the uninterrupted execution of ongoing high-impact operations in the region.
