The Las Piñas City government suspended classes at all levels in both public and private schools on Thursday, July 9, as the southwest monsoon (habagat), intensified by Super Typhoon Inday, continued to bring heavy rains over Metro Manila.
Mayor April Aguilar announced the class suspension as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of students, teachers, and school personnel amid the threat of flooding and other weather-related hazards caused by the enhanced monsoon.
She also advised the public to stay updated through official announcements and advisories issued by the city government and disaster response agencies for further developments.
Authorities reminded residents to prioritize their safety, avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rains, and immediately report emergencies to the appropriate city hotlines.
