Cavite PNP warns fake accounts won't shield bomb threat suspects

In a statement on Thursday, July 9, the Cavite PPO said the Bacoor Component City Police Station and the Cavite Provincial Anti-Cybercrime Response Team identified and collared the person behind the social media post and recovered digital evidence related to the incident.
According to Bacoor City Mayor Strike Revilla, a security threat was posted online against three public high schools, prompting authorities to inspect the campuses and deploy bomb experts to secure the premises.
Although the police did not specify the age of the person behind the threat, Revilla said that the case was being handled in accordance with “proper legal and child protection procedures.”
The Cavite PPO, meanwhile, reminded the public that making and spreading bomb threats, bomb jokes, and false information or fake news online may result in arrest, filing of criminal charges, imprisonment, or the payment of fines.
“Mahigpit naming binabalaan ang sinumang nagbabalak gumawa ng bomb threat, bomb joke, o magpakalat ng maling impormasyon online: Huwag ninyo itong subukan (We strongly warn anyone planning to make a bomb threat or bomb joke, or spread false information online: Do not attempt it),” the statement said.
“Ang bawat post, mensahe, larawan, video, at online account ay maaaring matunton sa pamamagitan ng cyber investigation at digital forensic examination. Hindi magiging hadlang ang paggamit ng pekeng account o anonymous profile upang makaiwas sa pananagutan. (Every post, message, photo, video, and online account can be traced through cyber investigation and digital forensic examination. The use of a fake account or anonymous profile will not shield anyone from accountability).”
The police also reiterated that in cases involving minors, existing laws and procedures concerning children in conflict with the law (CICLs) will be strictly observed while ensuring that anyone who violates the law is held accountable.
