A 36-year-old woman was shot dead by an unidentified gunman moments after briefly talking to him in Sitio Mendez, Barangay Baesa, Quezon City, shortly before 6 p.m. on Tuesday, July 7.
CCTV footage showed the victim speaking with a man whose face was covered before she turned away and started walking. The suspect then pulled out a gun, chased her, and opened fire, sending residents fleeing in panic.
The victim sustained gunshot wounds to the neck and shoulder and was declared dead at the scene.
The suspect was later seen on CCTV taking a motorcycle from a passing rider before speeding away.
A relative said the victim had been eating when the suspect approached and spoke with her, and that several gunshots rang out moments after she walked away from the conversation.
The victim left behind six children, all minors, with the youngest only four years old.
Relatives said they have no idea what prompted the attack and believe the suspect was not from the neighborhood because no one recognized him.
Investigators from the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) are conducting backward and forward tracking of CCTV footage to identify the suspect as the investigation continues.
