Tricycle driver knifed dead inside home in Rizal

Authorities are investigating the motive behind the killing of a 42-year-old tricycle driver who was stabbed to death inside his house in Rodriguez, Rizal, on Tuesday, July 7.

The Rodriguez Municipal Police Station said the victim, identified as “Melvin,” was inside his house in Barangay Geronimo, Rodriguez, around 8:30 a.m. when the 28‑year‑old suspect, “Jayson,” allegedly entered without permission.

Police said the suspect suddenly stabbed the victim repeatedly with a knife.

Neighbors immediately reported the incident to the barangay.

The victim was rushed to H-Vill Hospital in Barangay Manggahan but was declared dead on arrival.

Meanwhile, the suspect was immediately arrested during a follow-up operation. The 23-centimeter kitchen knife allegedly used in the commission of the crime was also recovered.

The suspect is now under the custody of the Rodriguez Municipal Police Station and may face homicide charges.
