Gerry Abadiano brings talent to South Korea with Ulsan signing

Gerry Abadiano made a big step in his professional career after signing with the Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus for the 2026-’27 Korean Basketball League (KBL), the team announced Wednesday, July 8.

Following his Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) debut with the San Juan Knights, Abadiano, 25, kissed goodbye to his local club as he was called up to become the Phoebus' newest Asian import in the growing Korea-based tournament.

“Gerry Abadiano signed a contract with Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phevers for Asia Computer. Expect Abadiano player who will show his strength in the 26-27 season,” Ulsan wrote on its Instagram post.

Ulsan concluded its recent KBL campaign with an 18-36 win-loss card to settle for an eighth-place finish.

With his signing, the IloIlo City native became one of the four players from the Philippines – in RJ Abarrientos, Miguel Oczon, and Jake Figueroa – who have donned the Phoebus colors.

Figueroa, now playing for the MPBL's Abra Weavers, was the latest Filipino to suit up for Ulsan.

During his MPBL stint, Abadiano had a decent outing for San Juan in 14 games months after his college team, University of the Philippines, fell short to the Jacob Cortez-powered De La Salle in the UAAP Season 88 Finals.
