From K-pop to the big screen: TWICE's Sana lands first acting role
Singing star Sana of the popular girl group TWICE is set to make her acting debut in the upcoming film "Nyangi" alongside Japanese actor Takeru Satoh.
According to Soompi, Sana's agency, JYP Entertainment, confirmed that the 29-year-old singer has joined the cast, marking her first acting project.
"Nyangi" is a joint South Korean-Japanese production. Filming is reportedly set to begin in Japan in the second half of this year, with the production crew consisting entirely of Korean staff.
Although this marks Sana's first acting role, she and Satoh have previously worked together on the medley video for "Play," the debut album of MISAMO, TWICE's Japanese subunit composed of Mina, Sana, and Momo.
Sana, whose full name is Minatozaki Sana, debuted with TWICE in 2015. The nine-member K-pop girl group is known for hit songs such as "Cheer Up," "What Is Love?" and "This Is For."
Meanwhile, Satoh rose to fame after playing the lead role in the Japanese superhero series "Kamen Rider Den-O." He later starred as the titular swordsman in the live-action "Rurouni Kenshin" film franchise.
