Another goodbye for NCTzens: Winwin leaves NCT following Mark Lee's exit

It's another heartbreaking farewell for NCTzens.

Just months after Mark Lee departed the group to launch his own agency, fellow member Winwin has officially ended his journey with NCT after more than a decade with SM Entertainment.

On July 8, SM Entertainment announced that it had mutually agreed with Winwin to terminate his exclusive contract, effective July 9, bringing his activities as a member of NCT to an end.

"We would like to sincerely thank all NCT fans for your continued love and unwavering support," the agency said.

"Following careful discussions with Winwin, we have mutually agreed to conclude his exclusive contract, effective July 9. Accordingly, Winwin will conclude all activities as a member of NCT."

The announcement marks the end of an era for the Chinese singer, who joined SM Entertainment as a trainee more than 10 years ago before debuting with NCT 127 in 2016. He later became part of WayV and NCT U, earning a loyal following for his performances and quiet charm.

SM Entertainment thanked the 28-year-old artist for his years with the company.

"We sincerely thank him for the time we have shared together and wholeheartedly support him as he embarks on a new journey," the agency said.

Winwin has gradually shifted his focus to activities in China in recent years. In 2021, SM Entertainment confirmed that he had established his own studio to manage his acting projects there, and his appearances in NCT promotions have since become increasingly limited.

Still, the official confirmation of his departure is expected to leave many fans emotional, coming not long after Mark Lee also parted ways with SM Entertainment and NCT to establish his own agency.

With two familiar faces now gone, many NCTzens are left reflecting on the group's changing lineup while wishing both artists success in the next chapter of their careers.
