Religious worker arrested in Pasig for alleged abuse of minor
A 38-year-old religious worker in Pasig City has been arrested for allegedly abusing a 15-year-old girl on church premises over several months.
The Eastern Police District (EPD) identified the suspect as alias “Chris,” a resident of Barangay Pinagbuhatan, Pasig City. He faces 12 counts of statutory rape under Article 266-A of the Revised Penal Code, as amended by Republic Act No. 11648.
He was arrested by virtue of a warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 159 of Pasig City at around 7:35 p.m. on July 2 on C. Raymundo Avenue in Barangay Caniogan.
Police said the victim knew the accused as a family acquaintance and religious worker. She alleged that he betrayed her trust and sexually assaulted her on church premises between December 2025 and April 2026.
The incident came to light after the victim’s sister discovered communications between the two, prompting her to inform their father and file a criminal complaint.
The accused is now under the custody of the Pasig City Police Station (CPS) Custodial Facility Unit.
EPD acting district director Brig. Gen. Melecio M. Buslig Jr. said the arrest reflects authorities’ efforts to ensure that all wanted persons are held accountable.
“No individual can hide indefinitely from the law. This successful operation demonstrates our determination to pursue fugitives and hold accountable those accused of serious crimes. We remain steadfast in our mission to protect the public, especially women and children, and to ensure that justice is served,” he said.
The EPD also urged the public to provide information to help locate individuals with outstanding warrants as part of its intensified campaign against wanted persons in Metro East.
