Regional marketing alliance gives Filipino brands easier path to Southeast Asia
Filipino brands now have an accessible pathway to expand into Southeast Asia without having to navigate each new market on their own through the launch of the Philippine chapter of the Strategic Asia Marketing Alliance (SAMA).
SAMA, a regional network of independent marketing agencies, opened its doors in the country on Tuesday, July 7, with the aim of addressing a persistent gap in the domestic business landscape.
SAMA Philippines country president Enya Reyes noted that micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) are major contributors to the country’s economic growth, but many of them remain largely domestic.
Reyes said expanding into neighboring countries is often a challenge for these smaller companies, as it means marketing independently with limited support or engaging global network agencies that charge excessive fees.
With SAMA Philippines, Reyes said businesses can achieve their regional aspirations through a single team that connects them to local specialists across Southeast Asia instead of having to assemble separate partners for each market.
“This makes expansion more deliberate, more efficient, and more achievable for companies that are ready to scale,” she said.
The Philippine chapter of SAMA would connect businesses to the alliance’s network of independent agencies in nearby countries such as Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Singapore.
Through this model, Filipino brands can maintain strategic consistency at the regional level while adapting execution to the realities of each market.
SAMA’s founding member agencies in the Philippines include BBX Collab, Blogapalooza, Curiosity, Evident Integrated Marketing and PR, Inventie Marketing Services, LiveCatch PH, M2.0 Communications, and RedAnts Media Inc.
Management Association of the Philippines (MAP) president Donald Lim said this network of agencies will help empower the growth of domestic companies abroad, which is often hindered by a lack of trusted market access and reliable local partners.
“SAMA helps bridge that gap by connecting Philippine businesses with experienced agencies across Southeast Asia, making regional expansion more practical, less risky, and ultimately more achievable,” Lim said.
“When more Filipino companies succeed across the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), we strengthen not only individual businesses but the competitiveness of the Philippine economy as a whole,” he added.
