Brown’s visit was part of the activities marking the closing ceremonies of the 2026 pilgrimage season in Antipolo City.
The solemn Mass was attended by priests from across the province and Marikina City under the Antipolo Diocese, along with hundreds of pilgrims from Rizal Province and nearby localities in Metro Manila.
During his homily, Brown underscored the Virgin Mary’s obedience to God’s will during the Annunciation, responding with the words, “Let it be done to me according to thy word.”
He concluded by congratulating the diocese for the pilgrimage season and urged everyone to continue praying for Pope Leo XIV’s stewardship of the Roman Catholic faithful worldwide.
At the end of the Holy Mass, Fr. Keith Buenaventura, parochial vicar of the Antipolo Cathedral, thanked the local government for the successful conduct of this year’s pilgrimage season.
Mayor Ynares said the pilgrimage season served as a moment of “genuine unity—with the people becoming one, bound by a common desire to serve, to uplift, and to live in harmony.”
He added that Brown’s visit reminded Rizal residents that true spirituality calls them to rise above divisions, draw from Christ’s love, and work together for the common good.
Ynares emphasized that “the closing of the pilgrimage season marks not an end, but a renewed commitment to live with integrity, compassion, and purpose—honoring the faith traditions that enrich our land while building a future grounded in peace and mutual respect.”
Hundreds of pilgrims and devotees also joined the diocese’s first ever candlelight Holy Rosary procession, where the decades of the Rosary were recited and sung in various local dialects.

The diocese is celebrating the 400th anniversary of the arrival in the country of the brown skinned Marian image and the 100th anniversary of its canonical coronation.
