The stage has always been where Nina truly shines.

While her recordings produced memorable hits, it was her live performances that cemented her reputation as one of OPM’s most captivating voices.

Testament to this is her biggest-selling album, “Nina Live,” a record that captured the energy of her performances and brought that concert experience to listeners.

More than two decades later, that connection with audiences remains evident.

Just weeks after making her return to the concert stage with her successful 20th anniversary show in May, Nina is set to hit the stage again with “Nina XX The Repeat,” a follow-up concert staged after fans clamored for more.

The repeat show will include more favorites from the “Nina Live” album.

“A lot of people are looking for some of the songs from the ‘Nina Live’ album so, this time, we're going to do them,” Nina said. "Of course, marami pa kaming idadagdag pero surprise yun."

Nina said she does not plan to stage another concert specifically tied to “Nina Live.” She acknowledged that the album remains an important part of her identity as an artist but she wants to explore other avenues.

“I don’t want to close that chapter, the ‘Nina Live’ chapter, because ‘Nina Live’ is me. But I want to continue learning, singing other songs, songs that would challenge me as a performer,” she said.

Away from the stage, Nina has spent much of the past several years focused on a more private life.

A chance to catch up with the singer also meant learning what she has been doing during the years when she was less visible in the music scene.

“I’m very private talaga. Kung wala din lang concerts or gigs, housewife talaga ako as in, nasa bahay lang ako, taking care of my family,” she shared.

Motherhood has also shaped how Nina spends her time. She said she remains closely involved in raising her 10-year-old child, including choosing homeschooling to personally guide her child’s education.

Having started her career before social media became central to the music industry, Nina has also witnessed major changes in how artists build audiences today.

“Ibang-iba na. Everything is online whereas kami dati we have to actually go out and harness our talents in front of crowds,” she said.

While acknowledging that artists today continue to work hard, Nina noted how digital platforms have expanded their reach.

“It’s easier for them I guess kasi global ang social media e,” she added.

Directed by Calvin Neria with musical direction by Soc Mina, “Nina XX The Repeat” will be held September 24, 8PM at the Newport Performing Arts Theater.
