Hannah Pangilinan on confidence, community, and care
Running her own race
The young generation is constantly battling pressure in today's fast-paced world. Between keeping up with work or school, maintaining an active lifestyle, and making time for self-care, it can often feel like everything demands attention all at once. Gen Z content creator and athlete Hannah Pangilinan knows that reality well.
As an athlete and founder of the running community Just One, expectations naturally come with the role. In an interview with Manila Bulletin Lifestyle, the 25-year-old opened up about how she carves out time for herself amid a packed schedule, why rest is just as important as training, and how skincare has become part of her wellness routine.
For Hannah, staying active does not mean pushing herself to the limit every single day. Outside of race preparations, she follows a routine that prioritizes both movement and recovery. A typical week consists of two strength training sessions and at least two runs. On recovery days, she opts for activities that still keep her moving, such as golf, swimming, stretching, or treating herself to a weekly massage.
"I really do try to ensure that there is a shared time for both training and rest,” she said, emphasizing that both deserve the same level of intention.
That mindset also changed how she views consistency. Instead of pressuring herself to complete a certain workout or hit a mileage target every day, Hannah now focuses on simply getting her body moving. Whether it is taking a walk, stretching for 30 minutes, or going for a swim, she considers every form of movement a victory.
"I just try to scale it down to movement," she shared. "As long as I get movement."
The same intentional approach extends to how she cares for her skin, especially after training in the country's hot and humid weather. Her routine begins with cleansing in the morning and evening, followed by double cleansing at night to remove sweat and impurities. After workouts, she sprays hypochlorous acid on her face before covering active breakouts with pimple patches to avoid irritation.
For her, skincare is not separate from sports. Instead, it is part of the confidence she brings into every run and every community event she leads. She believes those quiet moments of self-care help fill her cup before she pours into the thousands of runners who look up to her.
That philosophy naturally led to her collaboration with Posh Skin during the third and final season of the Just One Fun Run, where more than 3,000 runners gathered at Vermosa in Imus, Cavite. Together, they introduced the limited edition Posh x Just One Runner's Version pimple patch collection, which was included in every participant's race kit.
Hannah personally designed the collection, drawing inspiration from symbols that define her running journey. The set features four icons: the Just One logo, a winged running shoe that captures the feeling of “runner's high," a lightning bolt representing energy and drive, and a heart pulse line symbolizing a runner's passion. She shared that each design carries personal meaning while reflecting experiences familiar to runners everywhere.
“I wanted to capture the playfulness of getting ready for a run and icons that represent our sport with the collection. Whether you’re part of the Just One community or just a runner who loves to decorate their race faces, you’d enjoy this collection,” she said.
Beyond serving as skincare essentials, the patches became colorful accessories worn by participants as part of their race-day outfits, celebrating confidence, individuality, and self-expression. Hannah also said that those personal touches matter. She enjoys expressing herself through her race-day look, from her outfit and makeup to her hairstyle and even the colors of her water bottle. Documenting those moments also allows her to share her authentic self with the Just One community.
Although the final season of Just One has reached the finish line, she hopes its message continues to inspire others. After all, whether it is training, skincare, or simply taking a walk, growth begins with showing up, one step at a time.
