The Parañaque City government has earned recognition from the Department of Health (DOH) after achieving a 100-percent rating in the Financing Characteristics of the Universal Health Care Local Health System Maturity Level (LHS-ML), highlighting the city’s commitment to sustainable and accessible healthcare services.
The recognition, conferred on July 3 and signed by Dr. Lester Tan, Director IV of the DOH, cited the city’s successful institutionalization of the Special Health Fund (SHF), a key financing mechanism under the Universal Health Care (UHC) Act.
According to the DOH, Parañaque established a sustainable health financing system by pooling resources and streamlining budget allocation, ensuring equitable, continuous, and affordable access to quality primary healthcare services for all residents.
Mayor Edwin Olivarez expressed gratitude to the DOH for recognizing the city’s efforts to strengthen its local healthcare system.
He said the achievement shows the city government’s strong commitment to giving every Parañaqueño quality, accessible, and affordable healthcare.
“This recognition inspires us to continue improving our healthcare services and ensuring that no Parañaqueño is left behind in accessing quality medical care,” Olivarez said.
He also commended the city’s healthcare workers, local health officials, and partner agencies for their dedication to implementing programs that have strengthened Parañaque’s local health system.
The mayor added that the recognition affirms the city government’s continuing efforts to institutionalize sound health financing policies that support the effective implementation of Universal Health Care and improve the overall well-being of Parañaque residents.
