CEBU CITY – The Bureau of Customs (BOC)-Port of Cebu exceeded monthly and cumulative revenue collection targets under former District Collector Alexandra Yap-Lumontad.
In its summary of key accomplishments, the port said that through its strong revenue collection, trade facilitation, border protection, stakeholder engagement, and inter-agency collaborati, it was able to reinforce its position as one of the bureau’s top-performing collection districts.
Under Lumontad’s leadership, the port said it exceeded both its monthly and cumulative revenue collection targets during the first half of 2026, collecting ₱25.007 billion from January to June — ₱448.735 million above target — including ₱4.750 billion in June alone, surpassing its monthly goal by ₱584.997 million.
“These achievements reflect the Port’s commitment to maximizing lawful revenue collection while facilitating legitimate trade,” the port said.
The port added that it enhanced trade facilitation by streamlining customs procedures, improving cargo clearance efficiency, ensuring accurate customs valuation and tariff classification, and strengthening compliance with customs laws and international standards.
The port also intensified its anti-smuggling campaign, highlighted by the successful seizure of 11 40-foot containers and 25 20-foot containers loaded with illicit cigarettes valued at approximately ₱1.84 billion, along with continued enforcement actions against misdeclared and undervalued shipments.
Lumontad also helped the port strengthen partnerships with the business community through regular stakeholder consultations and expanded inter-agency coordination with law enforcement and regulatory agencies, resulting in improved intelligence sharing and more effective border protection operations.
The port released its accomplishment after Lumontad vacated her post after she was promoted as the bureau’s Service Director of the Financial Management Office.
