ZAMBOANGA CITY – A rubber tapper and his wife were found dead in a grassy area in Barangay Limbu-Candis, Sumisip, Basilan on Sunday, July 5.
Police identified the victims as Hakim Sabturani Bancil, a rubber tapper, and his wife, Muhayyara Samsawi, residents of Barangay Mangal, Sumisip. The victims sustained bullet wounds in the head.
Investigation said that the victims left their house on Sunday morning but failed to return in the afternoon, prompting relatives and authorities to conduct a search operation. Their bodies were found on Sunday evening.
Meanwhile, a construction worker was shot dead in Lamitan City, Basilan on Sunday night, July 5.
Investigation said the victim, Omar Pelayo, had just arrived to the spend the night in his relative’s house before proceeding to a construction site when he gunned down by unidentified armed men riding a motorcycle without a license plate. Pelayo died on the spot and the suspects fled. Police recovered four spent caliber .45 cartridges in the crime scene.
Police are conducting manhunt operations and follow-up investigation in both cases.
