The Quezon City government is enhancing the preparedness of its frontline health responders against infectious disease outbreaks through specialized training on the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
As part of the initiative, the Quezon City Epidemiology and Surveillance Division (QCESD), in coordination with the Barangay and Community Relations Department (BCRD), conducted a PPE orientation for members of the Barangay Health Emergency Response Team (BHERT).
Disease Surveillance Officers trained participants on the proper donning and doffing of PPE to prevent contamination during outbreak investigations, disease surveillance activities, pandemic preparedness, and other public health emergency response operations.
The city government said proper use of PPE is vital in protecting frontline responders from infectious diseases while they provide immediate medical assistance in their communities.
Barangay and Community Relations Department head Ricardo Corpuz said the training equips responders with skills to respond more quickly and effectively to health emergencies.
The activity is part of the city’s continuing efforts to strengthen its public health emergency response system and ensure the safety and welfare of Quezon City residents.
