Paul McCartney revives Beatles classic at Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce wedding
By Ian Ureta
If there was ever a wedding powerful enough to pull a Beatles deep cut out of retirement, apparently it was this one. According to multiple reports, Sir Paul McCartney performed "I Want to Hold Your Hand" during Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's star-studded wedding reception at Madison Square Garden, marking the first time he has played the Beatles classic live in 62 years.
Released in 1963, "I Want to Hold Your Hand" became the Beatles' breakthrough hit in the United States and helped ignite Beatlemania around the world. McCartney last performed it with the Fab Four at New York's Paramount Theatre on Sept. 20, 1964, and never revisited it throughout his solo career.
The rare performance carried extra significance given McCartney and Swift's long-standing friendship.
McCartney was only one of several music legends who reportedly performed during the reception, alongside Stevie Nicks.
The guest list was as headline-worthy as the performances, bringing together an extraordinary mix of music stars, Hollywood A-listers, NFL standouts, television personalities, designers, and longtime friends.
