Marcoleta taken to PNP hospital after high BP, chest pain; Medical tests may take 2 days

Sen. Rodante Marcoleta may be accommodated at the Philippine National Police-General Hospital (PNPGH) for around two days until all the necessary medical check-up are completed.
Marcoleta is presently under police custody after he was arrested for a case of plunder filed before the Sandiganbayan in connection with the P75 million he admitted to have received.
And the decision to delay the travel of Marcoleta back to the Sandiganbayan for a commitment order was vindicated after the senator’s blood pressure shot up during the booking procedures.
Marcoleta also complained of chest pains, according to Maj. Gen. Robert Alexander Morico II, director of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG).
‘He complained of chest pains and his blood pressure went up. That’s why we brought him to the hospital. And after the medical, whatever the doctors of the PNP will say, we will transmit to the Sandiganbayan,” said Morico.
The official said they are taking the side of prudence in the case of Marcoleta since the senator is already 72 years old.
It was recalled that former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) secretary Manuel Bonoan was also extended with the same courtesy over his old age.
Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic Remulla said the entire medical check-up for Marcoleta may take up to two days.
“He will undergo a lot of tests to ensure his fitness. We want to have a full health report that will be submitted to the Sandiganbayan,” said Remulla.
The Sandiganbayan will decide where Marcoleta will be detained but Remulla said he may be detained at the new Quezon City Jail in Barangay Payatas where Sen. Jinggoy Estrada and former senator Bong Revilla are detained.
