Chinoy Actors of the Philippines Celebrates 2nd Anniversary
The Chinoy Actors of the Philippines (CAP) celebrated its 2nd Anniversary in partnership with the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII).
The evening was hosted by CAP President Diane Pascual and Founder Derrick Yu. Among the distinguished guests were Abang Lingkod Party-list Representative Congressman Manuel Frederik "Manman" Ko, FFCCCII President Victor Lim, Department of Trade and Industry Director Lilian Salonga, Chinatown TV President Lolita Ching, as well as personalities from the entertainment industry, media, and the Filipino-Chinese community. Guests gathered to celebrate CAP's achievements over the past two years and learn about the organization's future plans.
According to CAP President Diane Pascual, the organization was established in 2024 as a legally registered non-stock, non-profit organization. Its mission is to unite Chinoy actors, help members hone their craft, and serve as a bridge between Filipino-Chinese talents and casting professionals.
She emphasized that:
"CAP has never charged membership fees, nor have we ever collected commissions or referral fees from jobs or opportunities secured for our members. CAP has always been, and will continue to be, a service-oriented organization."
Pascual noted that while the Filipino-Chinese community has long been recognized for its achievements in business, she has always hoped to demonstrate that Chinoys can also excel in the creative industries.
"We have talented actors, singers, screenwriters, directors, and other creatives who deserve greater opportunities," she said.
She also shared that, while assisting Chinoy performers, CAP observed that many foreign actors and models lacked a clear understanding of the Philippine work permit system. This led to the establishment of the Association of Foreign Actors and Models (AFAM) in 2025, which aims to provide proper representation and support for foreign creative professionals.
Pascual further revealed that, with the support of FPJ Panday Bayanihan Party-list Representative Brian Poe Llamanzares, House Bill No. 9210 was filed to establish a clearer, more transparent, and more efficient work permit system while safeguarding the rights of local creative professionals.
She likewise announced that CAP will launch its Independent Production Initiative this month to create more opportunities for its members while continuing to discover and mentor aspiring talented Chinoy. The initiative also aims to inspire the next generation of Filipino-Chinese artists to pursue their dreams with confidence.
In his keynote address, FFCCCII President Victor Lim congratulated CAP on its second anniversary. He remarked that although the organization is still relatively young, it has already succeeded in bringing together Filipino-Chinese actors and steadily realizing its founding vision.
He praised Chinoy actors as cultural ambassadors and valuable contributors to the Philippine film and television industry, saying that through their performances they reflect society, inspire hope, and bring communities together.
He encouraged CAP members to continue preserving Filipino-Chinese cultural heritage while contributing to the growth of the Philippine entertainment industry, adding:
"Continue pursuing your dreams, keep improving your craft, and use your talents to help others."
More than just a celebration, the anniversary also featured a Gospel message shared by Sister Luisa Yu, who reminded guests that true peace, joy, and eternal life are gifts from God that can only be found through accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
The event also served as an opportunity to reaffirm CAP's mission of using entertainment as a platform for service, collaboration, cultural exchange, and nation-building.
CAP extends its heartfelt gratitude to its partners and supporters: Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII), Transfer It, Anytime Cleaners, Boy Bawang, Jovanni, Joyice, Maldita, Marswin Marketing Inc., Mikata, Why Not, WIPE, Chinatown TV, World News, Chinese Commercial News, United Daily News, Chinese Journal Today, Philippine Chinese Daily, Fei Long Wang, Filchioc, Manila Bulletin, FPJ Panday Bayanihan Party-list represented by Congressman Brian Poe Llamanzares, Abang Lingkod Party-list represented by Congressman Manuel Frederik "Manman" Ko, and Senator Bong Go, whose invaluable support made CAP's 2nd Anniversary Celebration a resounding success.
