QC Covid-19 cases jump 265% in 3 weeks, total hits 146

The Quezon City government has recorded 146 Covid-19 cases as of July 1, with infections rising by 265.22 percent over the past three weeks, according to the Quezon City Epidemiology and Surveillance Division (QCESD).
In a public advisory, the city said confirmed cases increased from 23 recorded between May 21 and June 10 to 84 cases between June 11 and July 1, bringing the total number of infections recorded this year to 146.
Health data showed that children aged 14 and below accounted for nearly 30 percent of all reported cases, making them the most affected age group.
Adults aged 25 to 29 and senior citizens aged 60 and above followed, with each group comprising around 16 percent of total infections.
The advisory also identified District 4 as the biggest hotspot, accounting for 32.71 percent of all cases, followed by District 1 with 22.43 percent.
Barangay Doña Imelda recorded the highest number of infections at 11 cases, while Culiat, Salvacion, Santa Teresita, Santo Cristo, Sauyo, Socorro, and Tandang Sora each logged four cases.
Patients ranged in age from one month old to 92 years old.
More infections were reported among females (66 cases or 62 percent) than males (41 cases or 38 percent), while four healthcare workers also tested positive.
The Quezon City Health Department said it has observed a continuous increase in Covid-19 cases over the past six weeks and will continue monitoring the trend.
It also reminded residents to practice respiratory hygiene, wash their hands regularly, wear a mask when experiencing respiratory symptoms, avoid touching their face with unwashed hands, maintain physical distance when ill, and stay home when sick to help prevent further transmission.
