Personal assistant arrested for pointing gun at man who helped him
Police arrested a man who pointed a gun at a driver who helped him during a motorcycle accident in Taguig on July 3.
The incident happened at the intersection of 8th Street and 4th Street in Barangay Katuparan, Taguig.
Investigation showed that the suspect, a 43-year-old personal assistant, was riding a motorcycle when he lost control and fell to the ground.
A 40-year-old school service driver who witnessed the accident rushed over to assist him lift the motorcycle and park it properly along the roadside.
However, the suspect drew a handgun and pointed it at the driver. The victim quickly backed away to safety while his brother-in-law stepped in to intervene and pacify the armed suspect.
Family members sought police assistance. Responding personnel from Taguig police’s Sub-station 6 placed the suspect under custody.
During the arrest, police confiscated an .45-caliber Armscor pistol, a magazine loaded with eight pieces of live ammunition, and a black sling bag used to carry the weapon.
The suspect will face criminal complaints, including alarms and scandal under Article 155 of the Revised Penal Code, grave threats, and violation of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act).
Brig. Gen. Glenn Oliver Cinco, district director of the Southern Police District, found the incident troubling when a “genuine civic kindness is met with unprovoked hostility and the threat of lethal violence.”
