Local golfers now have the chance to showcase their skills after the World Corporate Golf Challenge (WCGC) Philippines officially opened registration and unveiled its tournament rules and eligibility guidelines for its inaugural edition, organizer Premiere Sports Management Corp. (PSMC) announced Friday, July 3.
The WCGC Philippines, envisioned as the country's premier two-man corporate golf tournament, brings together top executives and business leaders from across the country with its National Finals scheduled on Aug. 26 to 27 at the Mimosa Plus Golf Club in Clark, Pampanga.
There, the champions will earn the coveted ticket as well as the opportunity to represent the country in the World Corporate Golf Challenge World Finals in Beijing, China.
"We are open to duly registered corporate teams. All they need to do is submit a copy of their company's Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Certificate of Registration and the latest Certificate of Employment (COE)," said Premiere Sports Management Corp. president Jose Paulo Legaspi.
"Premiere Sports will carefully verify all submitted information to ensure that every team meets the eligibility requirements before being allowed to compete," he added.
Under the tournament guidelines, the two-player team must have been connected with the same company or corporation for at least one year and must either be the owner, president, director or a member of the company's top-level management.
Business partners may also compete provided they submit proof of their business relationship with the principal client or company. Current professional golfers, members of the national golf team and former professionals are ineligible unless they have officially regained their amateur status under the Rules of Amateur Status.
Each participant is likewise required to submit a valid handicap index certification as of July 15, 2026. Players who fail to provide the required certification will compete with a zero handicap.
"We will strictly implement the eligibility rules because the WCGC Philippines National Finals serve as the gateway to an even bigger stage," Legaspi said.
"The National Champions will earn an all-expenses-paid trip to represent the Philippines at the World Corporate Golf Challenge World Finals in Beijing, China," he added.
Teams must pay a ₱50,000 registration fee, which includes a practice round at Mimosa Plus Golf Club redeemable anytime within one year or before the National Finals, shared golf cart use during the tournament, exclusive giveaways, premium raffle prizes and other event privileges.
PSMC chairman Joyce Escandor said participants can also expect an elevated tournament experience beyond the competition itself.
"In addition, WCGC Philippines and Premiere Sports will host a Welcome Cocktail Reception and an Awards Gala for all participants. We want every team to enjoy a world-class corporate golf experience that offers excellent value from start to finish," Escandor said.
