Contaminated bottled water hospitalizes customer, store owner in Antipolo
Authorities are investigating an alleged case of contaminated bottled mineral water after a 63-year-old store owner and a 20-year-old customer were hospitalized following its consumption in Antipolo City.
The Antipolo Component City Police Station (Antipolo CCPS) said the incident occurred on the evening of July 3, when a customer purchased a one-liter bottle of mineral water from a sari-sari store.
After purchasing the bottled water, she took a sip and immediately informed the store owner after noticing an unusual taste and foul odor.
Authorities said the owner also took a sip of the bottled water to verify the customer's concern.
After drinking the water, the owner allegedly experienced a burning sensation in the mouth, difficulty breathing, and burns on the lips and tongue.
Both victims sought medical treatment at Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center.
The incident was reported the following day, July 4, prompting police to seize the bottled water for laboratory examination.
Authorities did not disclose the brand of the bottled water but said an authorized representative of its manufacturer had been invited for further investigation.
