Vice Ganda, Vic Sotto greet each other amid leaked movie collaboration
By Neil Ramos
A movie collaboration between comedy icons Vice Ganda and Vic Sotto now appears almost certain after an accidental social media leak and a surprise exchange of greetings on their rival noontime television shows added to mounting speculation ahead of an expected official announcement.
The project, widely rumored to be an official entry to this year's Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), first gained widespread attention after singer Sofi Fermazi inadvertently revealed details of what appeared to be the film's launch event.
Fermazi briefly posted a promotional graphic on social media announcing that she would serve as the "Special Guest Artist" at a "Vice Ganda and Vic Sotto New Movie Announcement" on July 5. The post also identified the event venue before it was quickly deleted. Screenshots, however, had already spread across social media, effectively preempting the planned announcement.
Adding to the excitement, Vice Ganda unexpectedly greeted Vic Sotto during a recent episode of "It's Showtime," where he paused the program to send a message to the veteran television host.
"Hi, Bossing Vic! Hi, Bossing! I love you!"
The greeting immediately caught viewers' attention, with many interpreting it as another hint that the long-rumored collaboration was finally happening.
Not to be outdone, Sotto returned the greeting during "Eat Bulaga," responding with a message of his own.
"What's up, Vice! Mag-uusap tayo, huh?"
He then ended his greeting with his trademark sign-off.
"Mwa mwa tsup tsup."
The rare exchange between the hosts of rival noontime shows quickly became one of the biggest talking points online, with fans celebrating the possibility of seeing two of the country's biggest comedy stars share the big screen.
Neither the production camp nor the parties involved has officially confirmed the project as of writing.
