NUSTAR Resort Cebu will spotlight the province’s rich culinary traditions with “Taste Cebu: Heirloom Culinary Gallery,” a two-day immersive exhibition that explores the stories, history, and flavors behind some of Cebu’s best-known dishes.
Set on July 9 and 10 at the Grand Ballroom of NUSTAR Resort Cebu, the event presents Cebuano cuisine through a gallery-style experience curated by Cebuano author, food historian, and culinary heritage advocate Louella Theresa A. Eslao-Alix. Rather than a traditional food festival, the exhibition combines historical narratives, cultural storytelling, and curated tastings to offer guests a deeper understanding of the region’s culinary identity.
The one-hour guided experience begins in the Listening Room, where visitors are introduced to the historical influences and cultural milestones that shaped Cebuano cuisine. Guests then move through four themed galleries that trace the evolution of local food traditions—from their origins and home kitchens to fiesta fare and contemporary interpretations of Cebuano classics. Each gallery is paired with tastings designed to complement the stories being told.
Five guided sessions will be offered daily at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m., 5 p.m., and 7 p.m.
Beyond celebrating Cebu’s food heritage, the event also supports a charitable cause. Proceeds will benefit the Cebu Food Bank through Universal Cultural Foundation Inc. (UCFI), the social responsibility arm of NUSTAR Resort Cebu. Every ticket purchased contributes to initiatives that help address food insecurity and strengthen communities across Cebu.
Regular and walk-in tickets are priced at P2,199 per person. Hotel guests may avail themselves of a discounted rate of P1,899, while students can purchase tickets for P1,000.
“Taste Cebu: Heirloom Culinary Gallery” is part of NUSTAR Resort Cebu’s continuing efforts to promote local culture through world-class experiences while supporting community development. By combining heritage preservation, culinary education, and philanthropy, the event also reinforces Cebu’s growing reputation as a destination for culinary tourism.
