SC renews health care plan for judiciary officials, employees nationwide
The Supreme Court (SC) has renewed its Comprehensive Health Care Plan (CHCP) for all judiciary officials and employees nationwide "to ensure that those entrusted with administering justice are cared for and protected."
First launched in 2024, the CHCP is implemented through the joint venture with Kaiser International Healthgroup Inc. and Manila Bankers Life and General Assurance Corporation.
Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo led the contract signing last July 2 at the SC offices in Ermita, Manila. He was joined by SC Associate Justices Samuel H. Gaerlan and Raul B. Villanueva.
In his message, Justice Gaerlan as chairperson of the SC’s Health and Welfare Plan Board said the health plan reflects the judiciary's continuing commitment to its most valuable resource – its people.
He said that the unified health care plan was established to provide meaningful and comprehensive health care protection to every member of the judiciary, regardless of station or assignment.
“A Judiciary that aspires to deliver timely, fair, and accessible justice must likewise be a Judiciary that values the welfare of its own people. By investing in their health and well-being, we strengthen not only our workforce but also the institution they faithfully serve,” he also said.
The renewed contract was signed by lawyer Marife M. Lomibao-Cuevas, SC clerk of court en banc, and Dr. Leah Uy-Yolo, president of Kaiser International Healthgroup Inc.
Erwin D. Ocson, president of the SC Employees Association (SCEA) said the CHCP has expanded access to health care, strengthened the resilience of court personnel, and advanced the Judiciary's goal of promoting the holistic well-being of its officials and employees.
Also present at the ceremony were Court of Appeals Presiding Justice Fernanda Lampas Peralta, Sandiganbayan Presiding Justice Geraldine Faith A. Econg, Court of Tax Appeals Presiding Justice Ma. Belen M. Ringpis-Liban, SC officials and employees, and members of the SC Health and Welfare Plan Board and its technical working group. The event was emceed by SC Chief Communications Officer lawyer Michael Jobert I. Navallo.
