Seven Filipino youth archers displayed great composure and precision to earn their respective spots in the final of the 2026 Singapore Archery Youth Championships on Sunday, July 5, at the Bukit Gombak Stadium.
The National Youth Archery Team impressed by qualifying seven of its members in five events of the three-day meet that welcomed several Asian countries.
Leading the local bets were Marc Banggoy and Chass Mhaiven Colas who set up an all-Filipino finals in the men’s U18 recurve where they outlasted their last four rivals in the previous round.
In the men’s U18 compound, Zac Zayco and Johnson Mateusz Vaughn also arranged a title clash between compatriots, while Mariano Matteo Medina punched his ticket to the men’s U15 recurve final where he battles Indonesian Emir Taslim Aida.
In women’s division, Leilla Jeal Cano is up for a tall task for the top podium finish as she takes on Malaysian top archer Binti Norazlizal Nur Qaireen Umairah in the women’s U18 recurve finale.
Abigail Jane Lim, for her part, forged a championship duel against Thai Pimpisa Plukpluem in the women’s U18 compound
Team Philippines arrived in Singapore last July 1, for the competition that featured host Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, Laos, Australia, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, and China.
