Tomohiro Kamiyama gives back to longtime fans with first solo digital single
Tomohiro Kamiyama, a member of popular Japanese boy band West., has launched his first solo digital single, "G.O.D.," as a tribute to the fans who have supported him throughout his career.
The solo project marks the celebration of Kamiyama's 33rd birthday and serves as his way of expressing gratitude to longtime supporters while exploring new creative possibilities.
"In today's world, the possibilities for artistic expression are expanding. Creating and sharing my work while also discovering new experiences through entertainment gives me strength and confidence," he said.
"I launched this project in the hope that it would serve as a way to give back to all the fans who support me every day."
The release welcomes listeners into what Kamiyama calls the "Kamiyama World," showcasing every facet of his artistry—from singing, songwriting and rap to dance.
Titled "G.O.D.," a reference to his surname whose kanji means "mountain of the gods," the track was written and composed by Kamiyama. He also co-created the choreography for the music video with Kaita of dance crew RHT.
Kamiyama said artistic expression has always been at the heart of his career.
"I live to express myself," he said. "Singing, dancing, composing and performing are all deeply important to me because they allow me to share my true, unfiltered self in the most honest way possible. As long as I live, I want to continue challenging myself and exploring new creative opportunities whenever I can."
While embarking on his first solo venture, Kamiyama emphasized that West. remains central to his musical journey and hopes the project will introduce more listeners to the group.
"I would be so happy if this solo project could serve as a gateway for those who haven't yet experienced the music of West. yet," he said. "The group is both my home and my mothership, and I want to repay my fellow members and all our fans for everything they do and are for us."
