BACOLOD CITY – A 33-year-old man celebrating his birth anniversary was allegedly shot dead by his 74-year-old father in Barangay Libas, Isabela, Negros Occidental on Thursday, July 2.
Police identified the victim as Losio Jr., a laborer.
Police Major Joseph Partidas, Isabela police chief, said the suspect joined the victim and his two friends in a drinking session.
The victim and a friend figured in a heated argument and the suspect intervened to pacify them. However, it turned into an altercation with his son and they all went home to avoid an escalation.
The victim went to his father’s house and provoked him by shouting and challenging him into a fight. The suspect was irked and shot the victim with an improvised shotgun. The victim died on the spot.
The victim would usually go berserk when he is drunk and his father would usually pacify him.
The suspect is under police custody but will be released after the lapse of the 36-hour reglementary detention on Saturday, July 4, if no charges are filed.
