A 28-year-old repeat offender, allegedly intoxicated, was arrested less than an hour after assaulting a senior citizen and threatening a Meralco lineman with a replica pistol in separate incidents in Barangay Payatas, Quezon City, on Wednesday morning, July 1.
Police identified the suspect only by the alias “Anthony.”
Investigators said the first incident occurred at around 8:20 a.m. when the suspect allegedly tried to ram a 66-year-old man with his motorcycle while the victim was waiting for a garbage truck.
Although the victim was unhurt and merely warned the suspect to be more careful, the suspect allegedly returned minutes later armed with a wooden stick and struck the senior before fleeing.
At around 9 a.m., the suspect allegedly punched a 37-year-old Meralco lineman who was working in the same barangay.
Police said the suspect then pulled out a replica Glock 18 pistol and pointed it at the lineman, who managed to disarm him and immediately reported the incident to the Payatas Bagong Silangan Police Station (PS 13).
Responding officers launched a follow-up operation and arrested the suspect at about 9:22 a.m. on the same day. Police also recovered the replica firearm and its magazine.
Records showed the suspect had previous cases of physical injury in 2016 and reckless imprudence resulting in physical injury in 2025.
He will be presented before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office for charges of slight physical injury, grave threats, and violation of Republic Act No. 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
