A 72-year-old man wanted for rape and who had eluded arrest for 26 years was finally captured by police during an “Oplan Galugad” operation in Pasay City on Wednesday morning, July 2.
Pasay City Police chief Col. Joselito De Sesto identified the suspect only as Danilo, who was listed as the city’s No. 6 most wanted person. He was arrested at around 9:45 a.m. on Leonardo Street in Barangay 62, Pasay City.
De Sesto said personnel from the Warrant and Subpoena Section (WSS) conducted the operation to serve the warrant of arrest against the suspect, leading to his capture.
Police said the warrant was issued by Judge Lilia C. Lopez of the Pasay City Regional Trial Court, Branch 109 on Nov. 23, 2000, with no bail recommended.
The suspect was taken to the Warrant and Subpoena Section for documentation and proper disposition before the return of the warrant to the issuing court.
