TACLOBAN CITY – The Police Regional Office-8 expressed confidence that they have built a solid case for two counts of kidnapping with homicide against the three suspects in the killing of former Abuyog, Leyte Vice Mayor James Bohol and his son Carlou James, who were found dead in Silago, Southern Leyte this week.
Police Lt. Col. Anna Luisa Centino, Leyte police provincial legal officer, said that they have filed two counts of kidnapping with homicide based on the pieces of evidence they have gathered and the accounts of the eyewitnesses on Thursday.
The watchman of Bohol’s warehouse in Mayorga, Leyte where the victims were abducted identified the suspects and the vehicles leading to their arrest in Pasay City with assistance from the Anti-Kidnapping Group and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group.
Police Col. Celerino Sacro Jr., Leyte Police Provincial Office director, disclosed that James sustained three stab wounds in his chest while Carlou James suffered six stab wounds.
He added that the suspects were apprehended after tracking their movement in the getaway vehicles they used using Global Positioning System.
Police said that they are exploring other motives aside from the confession of alias Mak who claimed that he requested an extension for a check payment from James.
He claimed that James threatened him and his family which led him to abduct the victims and bring them to Silago and leave them there.
However, one of Mak’s companions argued with Carlo James, resulting in the victims’ deaths, with their bodies found in a ravine.
Mak argued self-defense. However, reports revealed that they bought cable tires and knives in MacArthur, Leyte before proceeding to the Silago. The victims’ hands were tied with wire and their mouths were gagged when they were discovered.
