Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto
Mayor Vico Sotto outlined long-term plans on flooding, housing, transport, health services, and public infrastructure as the city marked Pasig Day on Thursday, July 2.
In his speech, Sotto said the city government is preparing major projects aimed at improving public services and supporting inclusive development for Pasigueños.
Among the projects is the implementation of the city’s flood control and drainage masterplan.
Sotto said the final draft has been completed, allowing the local government to address flooding through a more comprehensive approach instead of implementing projects one by one.
The city is also finalizing the township masterplan for the Nascor property, envisioned as an in-city, sustainable housing project for residents living in danger zones.
Sotto said the project aims to provide a long-term and fair solution to long-standing concerns involving families in unsafe areas.
The Santolan Tawiran Housing project for families displaced by the revetment wall project is also expected to be completed.
The local government is likewise working on a transport plan, including proposed developmental routes aimed at easing the burden of commuters, in coordination with the Department of Transportation (DOTr), the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), and other agencies.
Other projects include the completion of the new Pasig City Hall, the opening of public spaces around the City Hall complex, including a one-hectare plaza, and the inauguration of a new command center.
The upgraded Pasig Hope Medical Center, formerly known as the Children’s Hospital or Child’s Hope, is also set for full reopening as it undergoes licensing to become a general hospital.
The local government said these projects are part of its continuing efforts to improve governance and deliver better services to Pasigueños.
