Yuchengco Museum marks two-decade legacy with a bold new vision for Philippine creativity
The Yuchengco Museum is turning 20, but it isn’t looking backward. Instead of celebrating past exhibits, the museum is using this major milestone to launch a completely fresh vision: becoming an active engine for the Philippine creative sector. Starting today, the museum is transforming into a living launchpad for homegrown talent, shifting its focus from a quiet exhibition hall to a dynamic space where the future of Filipino creativity is being shaped.
To drive this vision, the museum has developed an interconnected ecosystem across three distinct, reimagined platforms: the main museum galleries, a commercial retail space (YShop), and a dedicated events venue (YSpace). These spaces were unveiled on June 17, with members of the Yuchengco family and the museum’s trustees welcoming guests to experience the refreshed spaces.
“A museum’s job is no longer just to preserve culture, but to actively fund and fuel the people making it today,” said Jeannie Javelosa, director of Yuchengco Museum. “We are moving away from being just a repository of art, objects, and history to becoming a living workshop where local designers can build sustainable careers.”
With these strategic changes, the Yuchengco Museum officially transitions from a space of quiet reflection into an active, daily resource for the local creative economy. This new direction will be anchored by an extensive lineup of upcoming exhibitions, creative showcases, and public programs in the months ahead.
