A complaint has been filed against a Taguig police officer for allegedly sexually harassing an eight year old child.
The National Police Commission (Napolcom) identified the officer as a police corporal assigned to Sub Station 4 of the Taguig police.
According to the Southern Police District (SPD), the officer is facing a complaint for violation of Republic Act 11313 (Safe Spaces Act) in relation to Republic Act 7610 (Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act).
The victim’s mother went to Napolcom to report the incident, which allegedly occurred on Jan. 21.
Napolcom said the officer made inappropriate remarks to the child and repeatedly touched her face without consent.
In a statement, the SPD said: “The appropriate criminal complaint has also been filed before the proper prosecutorial authority in accordance with due process. The Southern Police District remains fully cooperative with the ongoing administrative and judicial proceedings.”
The officer has been relieved from his post to ensure an impartial and thorough investigation. He is also facing an administrative probe to determine possible violations of police rules and regulations.
Brig. Gen. Glenn Oliver Cinco, SPD director, emphasized that the district maintains a zero tolerance policy against misconduct, abuse, or acts that violate the rights and dignity of any person, especially children.
